The Tibetan Women’s Association marked its 28th anniversary on Monday by holding a panel discussion on the history, status and implications of the middle way policy.

Member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile Thupten Lungrik, Bawa Kalsang Gyaltsen and Dhardon Sharling spoke about the Central Administration’s middle way policy that seeks a peaceful resolution to the long-standing issue of Tibet through dialogue and negotiation.

Former cabinet minister Rinchen Khando inaugurated Burning Tibet, a video disk compiled by TWA about the self-immolations in Tibet.

The 2-hour discussion generated many questions and led to a heated debate on the topic. About 100 people attended the panel discussion.

The TWA was initially founded in Lhasa on March 12, 1959, and it was reinstated in exile India on September 10, 1984.The Tibetan Women’s Association is the second largest Tibetan NGO and the only Tibetan women’s NGO in exile.
