The Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of Dharamsala, North India organized a mini marathon of about 4 kilometers on October 7, 2013 to mark the 44th founding anniversary of the organization.

The marathon started from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts area near Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala to Cantonment area of Tibetan Children’s Village school, with the finish line back in TIPA. The event was participated by 60 male and 14 females including Indian, Westerners, and Tibetans.

At the function, Tenzin Jigme, the current president of TYC saluted the courage of Tibetans inside Tibet citing the self-immolations, the latest protest in Driru county, and urged Tibetans inside and outside to remain united in the struggle to achieve the wills of the dead and hopes of living, which is to return the Dalai Lama back to Tibet.

Tsering Dorjee, a student from Tibetan Transit School and Dolma Lhamo from Gopalpur Tibetan Children’s Village school bagged the first prize in the male and female's marathon respectively with 10,000 Indian Rupees as prize money. There were eight other winners who took home prizes of different amounts.

The Tibetan Youth Congress was established on October 7, 1970, and is considered the largest Non-Governmental Tibetan organization in exile.
