August 1, 2013 marks 6 years since Rungye Adak was arrested and charged with state subversion against China after publicly calling for the return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet at Lithang, Sichuan Prefecture’s annual horse festival on August 1, 2007. His nephew Aduk Tsetan has issued a press release calling everyone to remember his sacrifice.

In an interview with Aduk Tsetan, he said that Rungye Adak is often tortured in the prison resulting in kidney damage and eye problems among many others. He further added that the local authorities are harassing Adak's family members and relatives by barring them from attending any event taking place in their town.

Three of Rungye Adak’s nephews and three other Tibetans were arrested and charged along with him, out of which three were released after serving jail term, but the rest are still in the same prison. Since Rungye Adak’s attempt to speak in-front of the mass gathering at the Lithang horse festival, the festival has failed to resume any further.
