Four Tibetan non-governmental organizations have appealed to the President of the United States to oppose the replacement of the Tibetan with Chinese in schools, and a collaboration with the Indian government in the defense of human rights in Tibet.
Tibetan Women’s Association, National Democratic Party of Tibet, Students for a Free Tibet-India, GuChuSum - yesterday published an open letter to U.S. President Barack Obama, ahead of his arrival in India tomorrow on Saturday. The letter urged Obama to “oppose the sinicization of Tibetan schools" and "to help protect Tibetans’ distinct religious, cultural, linguistic, and national identity.”
The organizations called upon Obama - on his first official visit to India - to support ' Tibetan students protests against Chinese government's decision to remove the Tibetan language in schools, and replace it with Chinese. The letter also calls for the U.S. and Indian governments to work together to protect the rights in Tibet, and find a lasting solution to the Tibetan refugees in India and worldwide.
