MN Mayor Declares March 12, 2011 as Tibetan Women’s Uprising Day


The Mayor of Minneapolis, Mr. R.T. Rybak officially signed a Proclamation declaring March 12, 2011, as Tibetan Women’s Uprising Day. This is the first official Proclamation received by a Regional branch of the Tibetan Women’s Association in the United States.

This year’s 52nd commemoration of March 12 was held in Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. One of the speakers, North American Chithue candidate Dicki Chhoyang la stated that Tibetan politics have generally been male dominated and pointed out that their success has been cemented with the crucial support of their respective wives, sisters and daughters.

This is the second Proclamation issued by Mayor of Minneapolis, Mr. R.T. Rybak this year, the first being March 10, 2011, as Tibet Day.
