Exile Officials Offer Long-Life Prayers for Dalai Lama

Officials of the exile Tibetan government-in-exile made a long-life offering to the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama at his residence in Dharamsala.

The head of the government, Head of the Central Tibetan Administration Samdhong Rinpoche, led the ceremony at which the officials made a solemn pledge to dedicate their best efforts in studying, encouraging and fulfilling the Dalai Lama's commitments to promote human values, religious harmony, non-violence and the Middle-Way policy to resolve the issue of Tibet.

The Dalai Lama reiterated that his decision to devolve his authority to the elected Tibetan leadership is to further democratise the Tibetan society.

He also said the Middle-Way Approach was the best and mutually beneficial means for resolving the Tibet issue. He pointed out that it had also earned strong support from the international community, including the Chinese people.
