The Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama was honored with the Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice by the Harmony Foundation at a ceremony held at the Taj Mahal Hotel Thursday.

In his address to the gathering, the Tibetan leader lauded India for its ancient tradition of Ahimsa and harmonious existence of various religious traditions for many years. He said India’s tradition of Ahimsa and religious harmony is not only ancient one but also very relevant even in today’s world

The award was presented to Tibet's exiled spiritual leader by two representatives from the Kolkata-based Sisters of Missionary, and actress Rani Mukherjee who said she felt extremely privileged to get blessed by the Dalai Lama.
