The Dalai Lama, imparted teachings to thousands of devotees on Sunday at Bodh Gaya in India's eastern Bihar state, venue of the ten-day Kalachakra Puja, a sacred Buddhist ritual.

According to media reports, more than two hundred thousand devotees have poured in from India and abroad to participate in the Kalachakra initiations.

His Holiness followers were keen to absorb his teachings at this religious event, being performed to promote world peace and brotherhood. The itinerary included a visit to the Mahabodhi temple to offer prayers after his arrival in the city on Saturday.

His Holiness will give Kalachakra Initiation from January 01-09, 2012, which will be concluded with a Long Life Empowerment for public and a Long Life Ceremony for His Holiness the Dalai Lama the following day.
