Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama arrived Dharamsala Friday afternoon after his North America visit to a grand reception accorded by Tibetans in Dharamsala and heads of non-governmental organisations in India. Dhondup Lhadar, vice president of the Tibetan Youth Congress, the largest non-governmental organisation in the exile, speaks to VOA Tibetan Service.

Dharamsala in northern India is where the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile are based. The Buddhist monk has lived in exile since fleeing Tibet after a failed uprising against Chinese rule in 1959. An estimated 140,000 Tibetans now live in exile, about 100,000 of them in India.
