A 20 year old Tibetan monk from Dongsar Gon monastery was reported to have protested solitarily against the Chinese repressive policies towards the Tibetans during the founding ceremony of China’s Communist party on July 1, 2013 in Tsawa Pachoe, Chamdo prefecture of the Tibetan region. The monk had called for the return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet, and within minutes of the incidence, Chinese authorities arrived at the scene to arrest the monk, leaving his whereabouts still unknown.

It has also been reported that the Chinese authorities had sent a large contingent of security personnel in the region to tighten security, especially around the monastery from where the monk was from.
