British PM Set to Visit China

British Prime Minister David Cameron will visit China next week, his first trip to the Asian economic giant since taking office in May.

A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry told reporters Tuesday Mr. Cameron will hold talks with President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao during his 2-day visit, which begins next Tuesday.

The British prime minister will lead a large delegation made up of government ministers and dozens of business leaders.

Relations between Beijing and London have improved since Mr. Cameron's election. They soured under former prime minister Gordon Brown, due to Britain's anger over China's execution of a British national on drug smuggling charges.

Mr. Brown's administration also clashed with China about who was to blame for the failure to reach a binding agreement on climate change during a U.N.-backed conference in Tokyo last year.
