Tibetans in Asia and Europe Marks March 10th Anniversary བོད་སྐད།

Groups of Tibetan exiles, monks and activists protested in Taiwan and Belgium on Wednesday to mark the 51st anniversary of a failed Tibetan uprising against China.

Almost 300 Tibetans in Brussels chanted pro-Tibetan slogans and waved Tibetan flags in front of the European Council building and later planned to move to the Chinese embassy.

"Stop killings in Tibet, stop executions in Tibet," the demonstrators chanted.

In the Taiwanese city of Taipei, Tibetan monks and exiles held a candlelight vigil, singing the Tibetan national anthem.

On Wednesday, the Dalai Lama lashed out at China, accusing it of trying to "annihilate Buddhism" in Tibet and rebuffing all his efforts to reach a compromise over the disputed Himalayan region.

The Tibetan spiritual leader was speaking in an address marking the anniversaries of the failed uprisings, one, 51 years ago that sent him into exile in India and the other, two years ago that was quashed by a government crackdown that is still continuing.
