Chinese Report Tells Failure of China's Policy in Tibet བོད་སྐད།

Chinese scholars says last years uprising was caused by two decades of failed development policies that marginalized and created a "new aristocracy" of corrupt and abusive officials.

A report released in internet by Beijing based Open Constitution Initiative, a non-government organization describes how Beijing's efforts to pour rivers of money into Tibet since 1989 to ensure "stability" have been spectacularly counter-productive.

Four students at Beijing University, China's most prestigious academic institution, travelled through Tibet in the aftermath of widespread riots in March 2008. Their conclusions provide a more balanced look of Tibet's social problems, highlighting problems in the local government and the education system, than any account previously published in China."This is the first independent analysis of the situation in Tibet from within China," said Nicholas Becquelin, a research director at Human Rights Watch. He added that the report was a break from a series of "highly ideological" reports. "This is a factual analysis of the underlying social factors," he said.

Some information for this report was provided by The Telegraph and The Age.
