The Pan-Tibetan Uprising བརྙན་འཕྲིན།

Recent protests against Chinese rule started on March 10 in Lhasa, but soon spread across all Tibetan areas, with demonstrations erupting in almost every village in the traditional Tibetan provinces of Kham and Amdo, which have been carved up and grafted onto adjoining Chinese provinces for over 40 years. This despite the fact that by 1959, many areas in Eastern Tibet had been under Chinese control for at least a century, and the region had experienced more political and economic influences from China than from the central Tibetan government in Lhasa.

Kunleng invites Lama Kyab, a former law teacher at Qinghai law school in Xining, and Dawa Tsering, joint secretary of Tibetan government in exile, to discuss the reasons why the protests have been so pan-Tibetan in scope, and why Beijing should consider resolving the Tibetan issue as a totality, rather then by continuing the present policy of divide and rule by severing Kham and Amdo from TAR, which is made up primarily from the Tibetan province of Utsang.
