IOC Rebuffs Tibetan Request for Own Team at Beijing Olympics བོད་སྐད།

The International Olympic Committee on Monday rejected a Tibetan request to field a team for next year's Beijing Olympics. Wangpo Tethong, chairman of Unofficial Tibetan National Olympic Committee, and two Tibet team athletes met briefly with IOC administrators on Monday and they were told that athletes from sovereign states only can take part in the Olympics games. In an interview with VOA Tibetan Service, Tethong says although he is disappointed with IOC decision, but he has no plan to give up. He would now seek to enlarge our base of supporters."
