Talk to VOA: Dalai Lama's visit to North America

The recent visit of the Dalai Lama to Canada and the US highlights the ever growing popularity of the Dalai Lama in the West.

Tibetan Service staff Norbu Samphel and Gyaltsen Tsering followed the Dalai Lama’s visit from the West coast to the East coast for more than two weeks. During the visit the two reporters spoke to many Canadian and Americans about their perception of the Dalai Lama, Tibetan culture and particularly their understanding of Tibetan Buddhism. This week’s Tibetan TV call-in show will look at some of the Western perceptions of Tibetan culture, politics and religion. A journalist takes notes on the Dalai Lama’s visit.
