Dharamsala Marks Middle Way Approach Day


ཐད་ཀར་ཕབ་ལེན་གྱི་དྲ་འབྲེལ།

The Tibetan People's Movement for Middle Way organized a function in Dharamsala, India to mark Umay Lam Day also known as 'Middle Way Approach Day' on September 18th. ​

The function was attended by scores of Tibetans including representatives of NGOs in Dharamsala, and local assembly members.

Tashi Phuntsok, Secretary of the exile Tibetan administration’s Department of International Relations and Information, who was the chief guest at the event, applauded the organization's work thus far, and spoke on the importance of spreading awareness of the Middle Way policy.

In an interview with VOA's Tibetan Service, Yonten Gyatso Dhangshar, Vice President of Tibetan People's Movement for Middle Way spoke about the importance of supporting the Middle Way Approach to resolve Tibet's issue. He explained that, "The day is being specially marked to spread awareness among Tibetans of this policy, to remind ourselves of the sad situation of our country, and also because it is a joyous day because of the wide scale support the Middle Way Policy has received world wide."

Tashi Lamsang, Secretary of Tibetan Youth Congress and Tsering Dolma of the Tibetan Women's Association also shared their views on the day.

The Middle Way Approach day was first marked four years ago on September 18, 2010.
